I am sure we are all familiar with the emotional spiral.
It is something I experience often. I spend most of my days at home alone overthinking… I have learned that it is a trauma response. I would rather spend time overthinking things in my head than do them. Hoping that it’ll save me any potential disappointment.
I wanted to create a dress that embodies that. That shows you how, for me. Fashion is a way of life. I wake up, I’m thinking about it. Right before bed, I’m thinking about it.
Last year, I played around with the idea of tension. I used safety pins as a featured notion throughout the collection. Here it is in its evolved form.
It’s the idea of being held on by a thread, how pin by pin I am putting my life together.
Made in a gorgeous black satin, I wanted to give you the illusion of a seemingly simple dress on top, then have it elegantly spiral to the ground. Using grommets and safety pins, each individually hand-placed. It's the perfect mix of elegance, craftsmanship, and a literal representation of my mental health.
