In my process of making this, I thought about how I give you something out of nothing. I wanted to manifest my struggle of this entire process and really making my dreams come true when I felt I had nothing left to give. How can I make it clear that every piece I design, it feels like I’m putting a piece of my soul into it? How do I illustrate the nothingness I felt?
I wanted to keep it classic KENDRICK TRAN, with a streetwear twist. Designed to look like an exaggerated raglan hoodie. We made it out of organza, so it has a lustrous, see-through effect, with the right amount of structure for this silhouette. Then on the bottom I wanted to make a skirt that still adds shape to the body, but doesn’t hide anything at all.
Creating an illusion of conformity, when in reality the focus is on the human body underneath.
