AW25 - LOOK 8 Rave Wear pt. 5 Handmade in my family living room, using locally sourced materials
I have always hated the long-sleeved shirt. I thought, why do we need this? I am either going to wear a T-shirt or a sweater. Why would I need a longer version of what is already a staple in my wardrobe?
The more I immersed myself in rave culture, the less I cared about what I looked like. I started wearing clothes that I wanted to wear and felt good dancing in, and I stopped dressing for other people. So then I thought to myself, “Why do I hate the long sleeve?” I didn’t like how they fit; I think that was more about my relationship with my body. I only thought they looked good if they were fitted to the body, but that sounds restricting…
I designed a long-sleeved T-shirt that is actually fun to wear and is completely custom to KENDRICK TRAN. I am calling the fit CHOPPED. Inspired by the tablecloth ghosts, we dressed up as kids; it’s designed to look like someone dropped a giant piece of fabric on top of you and then CHOPPED it right at your hips.
Then, on the bottom, We have a panelled a-line skirt with handstitched stacks on the side to expose the leg. Inspired by the lifestyle of going to work, then to events and then to afterparties. The pulls are added on the side to illustrate the idea of wearing a long skirt for an event and then trying to pull it up the entire night while you are dancing.
